The San Gabriel Academy is located in San Gabriel, and was founded in 1955. This academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory Seventh-day Adventist school for students in kindergarten right through to twelfth grade.
Many opportunities are offered, to students from a variety of cultures, to interact with their teachers as well as with each other. The San Gabriel Academy offers its students the opportunity to learn and grow in academic, spiritual, social, and physical activities.
Within grades 7-12 there are approximately 315 students enrolled. There is an enrollment of approximately 175 students in grades K-6 of the Elementary School, which is located on the same campus and provides all education services leading up to the high school program.
All of the teachers on campus are fully qualified in their subject areas. The Board of Regents of the General Conference of seventh-day Adventists and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredit the school.
This school was established for the purposes of providing youth with methodical training for service, responsibility for life, reverence for God, and kindness towards mankind. The school’s motto is “Educating for Eternity”. The object of the Christian education is to provide a Christ-centered curriculum which will develop the student’s spiritual, physical, mental, and social faculties.
A set of carefully articulated learning goals has been formulated by the San Gabriel Academy, so that when students have completed the course of study at the academy, they will be:
• Positive, growing Christians
• Healthy, balanced individuals
• Responsible, active learners
• Caring, cooperative citizens
These four goals form the basis of overall planning of policies and procedures on campus, which guide individual teachers in the development of classroom curriculum.
